Pro-Biafra groups, MASSOB to unite for self-determination

Supreme Council of the Elders of the Indigenous People of Biafra yesterday organized a unity congress in Owerri aimed at bringing all pro-Biafra groups including the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and its splinter groups under one umbrella to quicken the struggle for self determination.

Deputy Chairman of the Elders’ Council, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, in his speech entitled: A New Leaf, said having one body with one voice had become necessary as unity is strength, saying the desire was what bound the agitators together to achieve the building of an independent, self-determining, united and progressive Biafra land.

“We have a wide window of opportunity to achieve this. There is a great desire in the mind of many people for this,” Ikedife said.

We need to cooperate and work as a team with one set goal. If we are not able to work together, we cannot achieve anything. Many groups and individuals have areas of special talents and strengths. We should harness all this plethora of talents and capabilities and deploy them where they are best fitted, but all under the umbrella of Supreme Council of the Elders of the Indigenous People of Biafra, using customary laws as contained in the Constitution of Nigeria, 1999 as amended,” he said,
