The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Rivers State governor Mr. Rotimi Amaechi and the party’s vice presidential candidate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, were amongst eminent dignitaries that stormed Lagos State yesterday for the 2015 annual thanksgiving service.

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, on Monday Condoled with President Goodluck Jonathan over the death of his younger sister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Olei.

THE death of the younger sister to President Goodluck Jonathan, Nancy Jonathan-Olei has forced the postponement of the inauguration of presidential campaign committee scheduled for yesterday. It would now hold today at 11 a.m.

 Presidential Political Adviser, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali yesterday conveyed the news at the venue of the inauguration at the Legacy House Presidential Campaign Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, which was scheduled to begin at 2 pm.

Bakare wants February polls postponed by 6 months

LAGOS — CONVENER of the Save Nigeria Group, SNG, Pastor Tunde Bakare has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to postpone the February general elections by six months to enable it review the election timetable.

States declare austerity budgets

 Austerity-cartoonLAGOS—WORRIED by the dwindling economic fortunes of the country, the Federal and 31 state governments of the country have proposed what has been termed as ‘austere’ budgets to contend with the challenges.

According to Vanguard investigations, the 31 states and the Federal Government, barring supplementary appropriations, will spend N9.626 trillion in 2015 as against N12.188 trillion spent in 2014 (see table).
