Mallam Hassan Umar
An indigene of Borno, who is on an historic walk from Lagos to Maiduguri, has arrived Ilorin, the Kwara capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Umar had
embarked on the trip to celebrate the victory of the All Progressives
Congress in the 2015 general elections.
Umar, who spoke to newsmen in Ilorin, reminded youths of the
need to shun violence while channelling their energy toward promoting
the country’s democratic process.
He described the political culture in the country as
maturing , adding that the youths were critical to the socio-economic
emancipation of the country.
Umar, who began his journey from Lagos on Friday, expressed the hope to reach his destination before May 29.
He said his venture was aimed at encouraging other Nigerians
to work toward ensuring the sustenance of the country’s democracy for
the much anticipated change in the polity to be realised.
Umar, who described the experience as refreshing so far,
however, urged government to pay more attention to grassroots
