Queues of motorists in desperate need of petrol resurfaced in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Kwara states on Tuesday, while the scarcity of the product worsened in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory following the drastic cut in supply.

The All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians change; now the party has power, it must show us that change in truth and in deed. One place where that change will be mostly needed is the National Assembly. It is supposed to be a public National Assembly but on matters of finances and spending, it is largely private. From a budgetary allocation of just about N50bn during the Obasanjo presidential years, the National Assembly now spends some N150bn per year. Apart from this unjustified budget, no one knows exactly how this money is spent.

What could make news is the heightened frequency of the deaths probably due to more illegal travellers, some fleeing from deepening instability in parts of North and West Africa.

Dangote to list on London Exchange next year

Africa’s richest man and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has said his company will be ready to list on the London Stock Exchange by the end of 2016.
Dangote, in a video interview with Bloomberg published on Tuesday, said, “I think we will list in London. What we are trying to do now, between now and maybe the next six to 10 months is actually trying to address all the governance issues.
